SUPERVISOR OF STORES

Purpose

Manages purchasing and materials operations in general storeroom.

Scope of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct, train, assist, and/or approve work of contracted and/or less-experienced drafters.

  • Analyze and/or interpret the following but not limited to:

  • Job orders

  • Industry reports

  • Material requirements

  • Material quotes/bids

  • Vendor contract specifications

  • Blue prints

  • Prepare and update policies and procedures related to purchasing and materials activities; administer the policies at other company locations and imprest stock locations.

  • Research methods to control and minimize material costs and increase efficiency in meeting demands including but not limited to:

  • Maintaining inventories at optimal levels

  • Making material substitutions when possible

  • Proposing alterations in fabrications and designs

  • Enhancing operations/reducing waste

  • Calculate and/or verify the following including but not limited to:

  • Stores expenses

  • Budget information

  • Pre-test pipe records

  • Prepare, compile, and/or approve the following including but not limited to:

  • Invoices

  • Material selection

  • Purchase orders

  • Stores activity reports

  • Materials requisitions

  • Vendor selections

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

  • Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Experience

Equivalent formal education to include a combination of courses such as finance, accounting, engineering, business management, or job related experience:

  • Working knowledge of personnel policies and procedures.

  • Experience in, or with, the following including but not limited to:

  • Purchasing and materials operations and procedures

  • Reading and interpreting manuals, reports, catalogues, job orders, documents, and correspondence

  • Researching, composing, and preparing reports, surveys, budgets, documents, and correspondence

  • Interacting, advising, directing, assisting, and communicating effectively

  • Monitoring, researching, evaluating, and prioritizing problems and situations to administer the operations of purchasing and materials

  • Supervision

  • Demonstrated ability in the following areas including but not limited to:

  • Make calculations and verifications applicable to position

  • Analyze, evaluate, and make recommendations or decisions related to manual revisions

  • Develop information, conduct meetings, and make presentations to groups and individuals

  • Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

  • None.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to operate tools and equipment required.

Communication Requirements

  • Communicate and/or exchange information or instruction.

Visual Requirements

  • Sufficient to perform job duties.
