Manages material and supply operations in storeroom warehouse and yard operations.

Scope of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage materials operations in storeroom warehouse and yard operations.

  • Analyze and/or interpret the following but not limited to:

  • Job orders, work orders and AFE projects

  • Material requirements and requests

  • Material quotes/bids

  • Vendor contract specifications

  • Stores inventory management operations

  • Purchase order management operations.

  • Review and analyze material needs, investigate and develop sources of supply, manage supplier performance objectives and outcomes, and coordinate with customers in the sourcing of supply materials.

  • Administer and oversee practice and procedure operations for materials management and purchasing operations in a storeroom environment. Coordinate and collaborate with Supply Chain operations for resource needs as necessary.

  • Process purchase requisitions including, but not limited to:

  • Researching products

  • Clarifying specifications

  • Documenting competitive bids

  • Following up on back orders

  • Expediting special delivery requirements

  • Manage and control to minimize material costs and increase efficiency in meeting demands including but not limited to:

  • Maintaining inventories at optimal levels

  • Timely response to material request and customer needs

  • Making material substitutions when possible

  • Proposing alterations in fabrications and designs

  • Enhancing operations/reducing waste

  • Calculate and/or verify the following including but not limited to:

  • Stores expenses

  • Material obsolescence and cycle count adjustments

  • Surplus materials

  • Material records

  • Budget information

  • Pre-test pipe records

  • Prepare, compile, and/or approve the following including but not limited to:

  • Invoices

  • Material requests and requisitions

  • Purchase orders

  • Stores activity reports

  • Materials requisitions

  • Vendor selections

  • Vendor reviews

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

  • Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.


Equivalent formal education to include a combination of courses such as finance, accounting, engineering, business management, or job related experience:

  • Working knowledge of personnel policies and procedures.

  • Experience and knowledge of storeroom warehousing operations, ability to understand and practice commonly accepted purchasing standard operations practices.

  • Experience in, or with, the following including but not limited to:

  • Purchasing and materials operations and procedures

  • Reading and interpreting manuals, reports, catalogues, job orders, documents, and correspondence

  • Researching, composing, and preparing reports, surveys, budgets, documents, and correspondence

  • Interacting, advising, directing, assisting, and communicating effectively

  • Monitoring, researching, evaluating, and prioritizing problems and situations to administer the operations of purchasing and materials

  • Supervision

  • Demonstrated ability in the following areas including but not limited to:

  • Make calculations and verifications applicable to position

  • Analyze, evaluate, and make recommendations or decisions related to manual revisions

  • Develop information, conduct meetings, and make presentations to groups and individuals

Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.
